SAFARI OVERVIEW - 14 DAYS RWANDA AND UGANDA ADVENTURE
The fourteen days Rwanda and Uganda adventure will start in Uganda where you will have wildlife tour in Uganda’s most visited national park, enjoy nature walk, cultural tour as well as the most exciting adventure of Mountain gorilla tracking in pac de volcan in Rwanda and primate tour in Nyungwe forest as well as wildlife tour in Akagera national park. Below is the detailed itinerary.
Day 1: Transfer from kampala to Murchison Falls NP .
In the morning, you will set off for Murchison Falls National Park, passing through the famous Luweero triangle enjoying the sceneries and lunch break in Masindi town. Through Kaniyo Pabidi head for the Top of the falls to enjoy the breathtaking view of the might River Nile forcing itself through a narrow gorge and powering 43meters down with a thunderous roar, giving a white furnace. Check in at Paraa Safari lodge/ Nile Safari Lodge/Red chili Rest Camp for dinner and Overnight.
Day 2: Game drive and boat cruise.
Early in the morning, enjoy a game drive where you will catch up with early risers and predators before they return into hiding places. You will see game as lion, leopard, giraffe, hyenas, and many more. Enjoy an afternoon boat cruise on the Nile River which will reward you with view of hippos, crocodile, elephants, buffalos and many more. A variety of bird species will also be viewed. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer from Murchison to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
In the morning, you will set off for an adventurous journey to Queen Elizabeth national park, with a stopover in the beautiful town of Fort portal, also referred to as mountains of the moon for your lunch. Proceed to Queen Elizabeth national park, passing on the foots of the Rwenzori mountains. You will have enroute game drive as you enter the park where you will see animals like elephants, buffaloes, mongoose and many others. Dinner and overnight at Luxurious Mweya safari lodge/Jacana safari lodge/Institute of ecology.
Day 4: Game drive and Boat cruise.
You will have an early morning game drive to catch up with early risers, where you will be rewarded with view of animals like the lion, leopard, bush buck, hyenas, and many others. Return to the lodge for a late breakfast and relax .After lunch, you will assemble at Kazinga channel for a marvelous boat cruise which will reward you with view of game as hippos, crocodile, and a variety of water birds such as shoe bill stork, heron, king fisher, and many more. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi.
After your breakfast, you will go to Kyambura gorge for primate tracking, where you will most especially enjoy viewing the Chimpanzee and the colobus monkeys as they play in the fruiting forest. Later, proceed to Lake Bunyonyi, passing via Ishasha sector, where you will have a game drive and see tree climbing lions, and a variety of birds. Continue to Kabale, referred to as “Switzerland of Africa”. Dinner and overnight at Arcadia cottages/Haburaro island camp/Bushara island camp.
Day 6: Lake Bunyonyi Cultural Tour and boat ride.
After your beautiful breakfast, you will proceed for a cultural walk on Lake Bunyonyi , where there is a number of villages. You will visit the Batwa tribe, also known as the pygmies who walk over from Rwanda Mountains to bring their agricultural produce in the market. You will enjoy a canoe ride on the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi, with a scenic view of the surrounding islands and well terraced hills. Dinner and overnight stay at Habuharo Island Camp/ Arcadia Cottages/Bunyonyi Overland Resort.
Day 7: Transfer from Lake Bunyonyi to Rwanda
After your breakfast, you will move to the Rwanda boarder and cross over to Rwanda. Drive a scenic journey to Kinigi where you will visit the genocide memorial. Dinner and overnight at luxurious Gorilla nest lodge/Kinigi guest house/Muhavura lodge.
Day 8: Gorilla Tracking Adventure.
Early in the morning, you will move to the park headquarters together with parked lunch and trekking gear where you will get briefing about the dos and don’ts with the gorillas. Proceed for the memorable and most exciting adventure in the forest. This will take you through thick vegetation and muddy and slippery ground, and may take you 2-6 hour to meet the amazing apes. A maximum of one hour will be allowed to be with the gorillas, and this will pay you a lot despite the strenuous activity. Retreat to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 9: Dian Fossey’s Tomb/Boat Trip on Lake Kivu
In the morning, you will hike to Karisoke research center, established by Dian Fossey, who spent many years researching about the mountain Gorillas and conserving them before she was killed, and is buried there. You will learn much about the gorillas’ history and their behavior. In the afternoon, drive to Lake Kivu in Gisenyi, where you will have a boat cruise on the lake with view of surrounding islands and hills. Relax on the beautiful beach on the shores of the lake. Dinner and overnight at Lake Kivu serena hotel.
Day 10: Transfer to Nyungwe NP
After breakfast, enjoy a scenic drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park . You will have a lunch stopover in Kibuye before proceeding to Nyungwe NP. Dinner and overnight at Gisakura guest house.
Day 11: Primate tracking.
After your early morning breakfast, with packed lunch proceed to Nyungwe forest to track the different primates especially chimpanzees and enormous troops of Angolan Columbus monkey. The NP is also home to over 250 bird species, 110 variety of orchids and over 12 species of primate. Take your packed lunch then at leisure proceed back to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 12 : Transfer to Akagera National Park.
In the morning, you will set off for Akagera national park, with stop over visit to the Genocide memorial of Murambi in Gikorongo town, the cultural museum and the kings palace in Nyanza. Have lunch in Butare, after which a visit to the handcraft village for souvenirs may be rewarding. Continue to Kigali before proceeding eastwards to Akagera national park. Dinner and overnight in Akagera game lodge.
Day 13: Game drive /Boat ride and transfer to Kigali.
Early morning, you will go for game drive to catch up with early risers. You will see game as lion, zebra, giraffe, bush buck, leopard, buffalo, elephants and many more. Enjoy a boat ride on Lake Ihema and get a chance to see water birds, as well as game such as hippos, crocodile, and many others. In late afternoon, drive a scenic journey back to Kigali for dinner and overnight stay in the chosen hotel.
Day 14: City tour and Departure.
In the morning, you will have a city tour, where you will visit the market, the museum, the genocide memorial centre and many others. Then transfer to Kanombe airport for your flight to the next destination
