Safari Overview

The 15 day Rwanda Congo Uganda safari commences at Kigali airport (Rwanda) and ends in Kampala (Uganda). It is ideally a private tour package and suitable for honeymooners and adventure seekers. We can tailor-make it to suit all your interests. It includes game drives in Murchison Falls plains and Queen Elizabeth national parks; traversing the Great East African Rift Valley; habituated chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest; gorilla trekking in both Bwindi in Uganda and Parc national des Volcans in Rwanda and a visit to the Gisozi genocide memorial site. Also enjoy the adventurous Nyiragongo Mountain hiking in Congo.

Tour Itinerary:

 Day 1: Arrival at Kigali Airport
Up on arrival in Rwanda, meet your tour guide (Our company representative) and transfer you to the lodge/hotel in Kigali for relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 2: Kigali city tour – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Morning breakfast and visit the Gisozi genocide memorial site and other tourist centers in Kigali, later drive northwards to Parc National des Volcans, a home of Mountain Gorillas. Dinner and O/N at Kinigi Guest House / Hotel La Palme / Mountain Gorilla view Lodge.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park
In the morning enjoy gorilla trekking expedition in the Volcanoes national park. Thanks to the conservation efforts of the late Dian Fossey, a primatologist, without whom, Rwanda, tiny as she is, would never be recognized. The Rwanda gorilla trekking expedition is not as strenuous as it in Bwindi forests, Uganda. Descend to the lodge for late lunch. Later transfer to Lake Kivu beach. Dinner & Overnight at Hotel Paradise Marahide / Kivu Serena Hotel.

Day 3: Nyiragongo Volcano Hiking (DR Congo)
Cross the Rwanda – Congo Boarder to Goma, then proceed to Nyiragongo volcano trekking start point. The trek to the top is so wonderful, goes through beautiful scenery (5-6hrs) to reward you with true Africa wilderness. Camping at the peak for overnight stay.

Day 4: Descend to Goma
Descend to Goma town, the cross back to Rwanda and relax on lake kivu beach. Overnight at Hotel Paradise Marahide / Kivu Serena Hotel.

Day 5: Relaxation on Kivu beach, Boat cruise to Hot springs & coffee Island
Day 5 is reserved for refreshment on Kivu beach. We can enjoy a boat cruise to coffee island and the hot springs, sea, sun and sand bathing. Overnight at Hotel Paradise Marahide / Kivu Serena Hotel.

 

Day 6: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi Uganda.
Have morning breakfast and hit the road to cross Uganda – Rwanda boarder through Kisoro boarder, procced to the lava dammed lake of wonders, lake Bunyonyi. Overnight at Arcadia cottages on the beautiful shores of Lake Bunyonyi.

Day 7: Fantastic canoeing
Enjoy fantastic boat canoeing to different beautiful islands, visit Batwa communities (Pygmies), enjoy excellent bird watching along the boat, later retire for lunch and drive through the Switzerland of Africa to Bwindi Gorilla park. Overnight at Buhoma community rest camp, Silverback lodge Bwindi, Gorilla Forest Camp.

Day 8: Second gorilla tracking Bwindi
Gorilla trekking is the main highlight of this trip. Dedicate this day to this activity which starts in the morning at the park headquarters at Buhoma and normally takes between 2 to 8 hours in the jungle. After encountering the mountain gorillas, you will be allowed to stay in their presence as you play with them and as they swing in the tree branches with all the breath-taking acrobatics. O/N at your lodge on Day 6.

Day 9: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth Wildlife Park
Morning breakfast is followed by transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park through Ishasha sector, a home to tree climbing lions along side other animals like Elephants, Buffaloes, antelopes among others. Relax at your lodge in the evening. Overnight at Mweya safari Lodge, Hippo Hill camp, Simba safari lodge.

Day 10: Game drive and fantastic launch cruise

Wake up for an early morning game drive before some predators retreat to the hide-outs. Enjoy the Kasenyi track game drive expecting to encounter leopards, lions, hyenas, different antelope species, etc.

After lunch, embark on an afternoon boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel between lakes George and Edward for excellent game viewing Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge, Lodge, Hippo Hill camp, Simba safari lodge.

Day 11: Chimpanzee tracking
Morning breakfast is followed by transfer to Fort portal (3hrs), check in Mountains of the moon hotel, relax and later embark on Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest. Overnight at Mountains of the Moon Hotel.

Day 12: Transfer to Murchison falls National Park
Have breakfast and transfer to the magnificent falls Park, following the great rift valley and the Butiaba escarpments.  Overnight at Sambiya River Lodge / Paraa safari Lodge.

Day 13: Game viewing in Murchison Falls national park
In the morning, after breakfast, enjoy a game drive in the northern sector of Murchison Falls national park. Expect to encounter elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, warthogs, jackals, hartebeests, different bird species, etc.

In the afternoon enjoy a boat cruise starting from Paraa Safari Lodge to the bottom of the falls. Lunch, dinner and overnight at Sambiya River Lodge / Paraa Safari Lodge (FB)

Day 14: Depart for Kampala.
Morning breakfast is followed by a drive to the top of the falls, later proceed to Kampala, Uganda’s Capital. Overnight at cassia lodge / Kampala Lodge.

Day 15: Kampala City tour – Departure.
Depending on your departure flight, we can take a city tour to visit Kasubi tombs, Uganda museum, Local art and craft shops, etc. later transfer to Entebbe airport for your scheduled flight.

End of the tour

Possible Extensions

1) One day Jinja City Tour to visit the sources of River Nile, enjoy horse riding and cultural music, dance and drama.

2) One days visit to Ngamba Island, a chimpanzee sanctuary on lake Victoria.

3) Hike to Dian Fossey Grave yard in Rwanda (Before or after gorilla tracking)
