12 Days Gorilla Safari in Uganda & Rwanda

Day 1:  Transfer to Murchison Falls national Park
Early in the morning transfer to Murchison Falls national park. Arrive in the afternoon at the top of the falls. Cross over to Paraa Safari Lodge by a ferry. Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge / Mid-range- Sambiya River lodge / Basic-Red Chills Camp

Day 2:  Game Drive
Enjoy a morning game drive to the northern bank expecting to see elephants, lions, cape buffalo, Rothschild’s giraffes, hartebeests, waterbucks, oribis, bushbucks, Bohor reedbucks, hyenas, and if you are lucky, leopards. Drive back to the lodge for breakfast. After lunch, enjoy a boat cruise upstream to the calm Victoria Nile and the base of the falls merely tens of meters from the "Devil's Cauldron." Expect to see toothsome hippos, crocodiles and over the 17-kilometer stretch you may also spot buffaloes, elephants, waterbucks and Uganda kob plus a plethora of birds including goliath herons, Egyptian geese, pelican, bee-eaters, kingfishers, Hornbills, cormorants and the rare shoebill stork. Day 3: Transfer to kibale Forest national Park
In the morning, with packed lunch, traverse the Western Albertine Rift and farmlands arriving in Fort Portal. Dinner and overnight at Luxury Ndali Safari Lodge / Mid range -Rwenzori View Guest House in Fort portal or Basic Kanyankyu ecological site in a Sky Tree House.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest national park
In the morning undertake chimp trekking in Kibale forest. If you are a birder, the afternoon can be dedicated to birding in the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. Alternatively visit the crater lakes in this area. Dinner and overnight stay at Luxury Paraa Safaris Lodge / Mid range / Sambiya River lodge / Basic -Red Chilies Camp

Day 5: Game drive in Queen Elizabeth national park
In the morning depart from Fort Portal to Queen Elizabeth National Park (QENP). Along the way  a game drive will reward you with views of various antelope species, buffaloes, elephants, warthogs and if you are lucky, a leopard. Arrive for your lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon a launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel is the highlight of a safari to Queen Elizabeth national park. Dinner and overnight at Luxury Mweya Uganda Safari Lodge/Jacana safari lodge / Hippo camp

Day 6: QENP wildlife tour
In the morning undertake a game drive in the park following the Kasenyi Track. In the afternoon visit the Maramagambo Forest for a nature walk. Dinner and overnight at Luxury Mweya Uganda Safari Lodge / Jacana safari lodge / Hippo camp

Day 7: Transfer to Bwindi via Ishasha
In the morning, after your breakfast, transfer to Bwindi via Ishasha game Reserve for viewing tree climbing lions arriving in the evening in Buhoma – Bwindi. Dinner and overnight at Luxury Gorilla Forest Camp / mid range -Lake Kitandara tented Camp / Basic Buhoma community Bandas

Day 8: Gorilla Trekking
In the morning after breakfast report to the park headquarters for briefing before commencing the gorilla trek at 8.30 am local time. Time taken to encounter these awesome apes ranges between an hour and a full day. But meeting face to face with the mountain gorillas is the best wildlife experience ever confessed by any visitor to Africa. Dinner and overnight at Luxury Gorilla Forest Camp / mid range Lake Kitandara tented Camp / Basic Buhoma community Bandas

Day 9: Transfer to Rwanda
After breakfast transfer to Rwanda via the so-called “Switzerland of Africa”, then through Kisoro and cross over Rwanda in the Virungas. Dinner and overnight at Luxury Gorilla nest camp / Mid range Kinigi guest house

Day 10: gorilla trekking in the Virungas
Very early in the morning wake up for breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters for briefing before undertaking gorilla trekking at 8.30 am local time in the Volcanoes national park. Return to the lodge for your lunch. In the evening undertake a community walk where a traditional dance will be organized for you. Dinner and overnight at Luxury Gorilla nest camp / Mid range Kinigi guest house

Day 11: Visit Dian Fossey Graveyard
In the morning after breakfast transfer to Karisoke and visit Dian Fossey’ Grave yard where she was laid to rest near the grave of her friendly gorilla Digit. In the afternoon transfer to Kigali. Dinner and overnight at Kigali Serena Hotel

Day 12: Kigali City Tour
On this day, you will enjoy a city tour of Kigali as you will visit the Genocide memorial Ground, the handicrafts market, etc. Finally our tour guide will transfer you to the airport for your flight to the next destination.
