Rwanda Cultural Tour - 6 Days Cultural Safari in Rwanda

RWANDA CULTURAL SAFARI ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
Upon your arrival our safari company representative will welcome you and transfer you to a hotel of your choice for you dinner and overnight.

 Day 2: Transfer to Virunga
After breakfast, transfer by road to Ruhengeri in the north, “the gorilla sanctuary”. You can have a chat with this friendly Rwandese community before retiring to your lodge for your dinner and overnight. A cultural dance can be organized for you.

 Day 3: Tour the twin Lakes: Burera and Ruhondo
After breakfast, tour the beautiful lakes Burera and Ruhondo. This area is also rich in Agro-tourism. You may be introduced to traditional sustainable farming methods with African vegetables and fruits; get involved the fishing competition with children from the neighbouring villages. Later undertake a launch cruise to the convent “Foyer de Charité”. You may visit the local witch doctor and the “snake man.”

Day 4: Transfer north of Lake Kivu and visit tea plantations
Transfer to Gisenyi at the northern shores of Lake Kivu, tour the tea plantations and the farmers’ market, then undertake a city tour of Gisenyi which repeatedly gained tragic publicity in the past decade because of huge refugee camps, hunger, epidemics and, recently in 2002, a devastating volcanic eruption of Nyiragongo Volcano that reminds you of the fate of the historic town of Pompeii and then later transfer to Kigali.

Day 5: Touring the Palace
After breakfast, drive to Nyanza, the historical seat of the ancient Rwandan kings and visit the Palace. From there proceed to Butare, Rwanda’s cultural centre and visit the huge National Museum. Later transfer to Kigali for a city tour in the evening. You will be entertained by some by members of a Batwa Pottery Project with an introduction to the life of the first Rwandans and their art of pottery.

 Day 6: End of Tour
You may have the morning committed to Kigali city tour especially visiting the genocide memorial sites and handicraft shops to buy yourself souvenirs as you prepare to take your scheduled flight to your home country.
